Board of Education
The joint Board of Education of St. Pius/St. Elizabeth Parishes promotes Catholic education and formation in all eight areas of catechesis: Adult, Family, Young Adult, Adolescent, Children of Catechetical Age, Early Childhood, Persons with Disabilities and Catholic Schools.
Structure
The Board of Education includes the pastors from St. Elizabeth and St. Pius, four elected members from St. Elizabeth, five elected members from St. Pius, the Director of Religious Education, the Principal of St. Pius School and representatives from the St. Pius school teachers and St. Elizabeth/St. Pius parish councils. Board of Education members serve on boards or committees representing all the eight areas of catechesis, including Regis Middle School and Xavier High School Boards. Elected members serve a three-year term. Elections are held annually in the spring of the year.
Programs
Adult Education
Adult education has undergone great growth in the last two years. An adult education program is now offered on a monthly basis. Beginning in January of 2003, adult education will be sponsoring “Catholic Faith for Adults: A Survey of Catholic Belief and Practice”.
Catholic Schools
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton supports 3 schools for Catholic education: Xavier High School, Regis Middle School and St. Pius X School which is the primary school shared and funded in association with St. Pius parish.
Xavier High School was opened for grades 9 – 12 in 1998. Middle school students from St. Pius School were moved to the newly opened Regis Middle School in 2000. St. Pius School currently offers three classrooms for students in kindergarten through second grade. Councils from both parishes have approved the construction of three additional classrooms at St. Pius School. Upon completion, this project will provide three classrooms for each grade level within the school, allowing for even more students to take advantage of a Catholic School Education. In addition to the growth at our primary levels, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton is also the home for pre-school students age 3-4.
Religious Education
Religious Education programs are available at both St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. Pius School for grades K – 12, along with a newly developed family program and various youth group and faith sharing activities.
